Located in South Kensington, a quiet residential neighborhood in west London, England, Blakes Hotel London has served as the original model of the "fashionable small hotel" for the past 20 years. Designed by Anouska Hempel and set in two Victorian mansions, the hotel is located one-half mile from Kings Road. Sandwiched between the affluent centers of Kensington and Chelsea, the area is home to an array of boutiques and restaurants amidst landmarks such as the Science Museum, Natural History Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, Royal Albert Hall, and the Serpentine Gallery situated in the heart of Kensington Gardens. Founded in 1970, the Gallery attracts more than 400,000 visitors a year and is one of London's most popular locations for viewing modern and contemporary art and architecture.

Densely decorated in an East-meets- West style, the Blakes Hotel London features numerous Chinese, Japanese and Indian antiques as well as occasional Egyptian or Venetian curios. Each of the 48 guestrooms is individually themed, whether British Raj, black-lacquered Oriental or the Egyptian-themed Corfu Suite. The hotel is known for its plush beds, many with canopies, along with spacious marble baths. The nearest station to the hotel is Gloucester Road, also on the Piccadilly Line. London's black taxi cabs also service Heathrow Airport and cost approximately 65 GBP to the hotel. Bus services include the Airbus Heathrow shuttle to London Victoria or King's Cross railway stations. The easiest way to get around London is by using the Underground (metro) or bus services. From the airport, take the M4 west to Central London, following signs for Hammersmith/Central London. Continue towards Earl's Court and turn left at the bottom of Earl's Court Road onto Brompton Road. Head along Old Brompton Road and turn right after the Draycott Arms onto Roland Gardens. The hotel is on the right.
