Getting there. The Heathrow Express train is the quickest way into London. It departs from the airport every 15 minutes, arriving in Paddington Station in central London. The journey is non-stop and takes 15 minutes, costing 14.50 GBP. Paddington is on the District and Circle line, which runs to South Kensington station, 500 metres away. Additionally, Heathrow Airport is on the Piccadilly line of the Underground, and also runs directly to South Kensington station. The Underground takes approximately one hour to the city centre and leaves the airport every 10 minutes. A one-day travel pass costs 6.30 GBP, including travel to Heathrow (in zone 6). Getting around. The London Underground (Tube) or bus services are the easiest way to travel within London. Single tickets are expensive, but an electronic Oyster card offers a cheaper fare. Oyster cards can be purchased from ticket offices for 3 GBP (refundable). Daily or weekly travel cards are the most economical way to travel in London, and are valid on the Underground, trains, buses, trams and DLR. The nearest Tube station to the hotel is South Kensington, 500 metres away. Black taxis are abundant on the streets, but can be costly. Driving is not recommended for visitors and there is a congestion charge zone for cars in central London.
