The Halkin London

Location. With its discrete Georgian-style façade, The Halkin is a boutique located in the exclusive central London district of Belgravia, 300 metres from the green expanses of Hyde Park and Green Park, and 500 metres from the luxury department stores of Knightsbridge. London Heathrow Airport (LHR) is approximately 16 miles away, around 45 minutes by car, and Gatwick Airport (LGW) is 35 miles away.

Hotel Features. Armani-clad staff on the 24- hour front desk can arrange private drivers, airport transfers, and babysitting services and can book restaurants, theatre tickets and tours and excursions. Personal shopper services can also be organised. The Halkin has an intimate bar in the marble lobby, which is popular for discrete meetings throughout the day.

Guests of The Halkin can dine at the onsite restaurant Nahm, the only Thai restaurant to have a Michelin-star. Chef David Thompson creates innovative Thai cuisine such as Minced Prawns and Chicken Simmered in Palm Sugar and Coconut. Nahm is open for lunch and dinner from Monday to Friday, and dinner only from Saturday to Sunday.

There is a gym, steam room and sauna at the COMO Shambhala Health Club at the sister hotel Metropolitan London, 500 metres away on Park Lane, free of charge to Halkin guests. Spa treatments and massage are also available for a surcharge. Hyde Park, 300 metres from the hotel, has running, cycling and skating paths and horse riding tracks.

Guestrooms. The Halkin offers 41 air-conditioned guestrooms located on five floors, all of which have a sleek, contemporary design with cool taupe, cream and beige tones. Amenities include Egyptian cotton bed linen and fine goose-down duvets and pillows, satellite television with pay movies, multi-line phones with voicemail, complimentary high-speed wireless Internet, minibars, CD and DVD jukeboxes, and touch- screen consoles for lighting, room temperature and butler call. Marble bathrooms include anti-mist mirrors and COMO Shambhala aromatherapy toiletries.

Getting there: From Heathrow Airport, the Heathrow Express train service to London Paddington Station leaves every 15 minutes. A taxi from Paddington will cost approximately GBP 15. Heathrow airport is also on the Underground's Piccadilly Line, which takes passengers to Hyde Park Corner underground station, 300 metres from the hotel. Halkin staff can arrange airport transport and London's black taxi cabs also service Heathrow Airport and cost around GBP 50 to the hotel.

From Gatwick Airport, the Gatwick Express train service runs to London Victoria Station. A taxi from Victoria will cost approximately £8, and there are also frequent buses to Hyde Park Corner, 300 metres from the hotel. There is also a train service which runs to London King's Cross; from here, the Piccadilly Line runs to Hyde Park Corner station.

Driving directions. When driving from Heathrow Airport, take the M4 motorway to London and follow signs to Hyde Park Corner. At Hyde Park Corner roundabout take the third exit towards Victoria along Grosvenor Place. Halkin Street is the first road on the right and The Halkin hotel is on the left hand side.
